According to National Testing Agency (NTA), 10,48,012 candidates appeared in JEE (Main) 2021 at National Level. Out of these, only 2,50,000 were shortlisted for JEE (Advanced) 2021 examination. These shortlisted students competed for admission in 16,598 seats of 23 IITs (1.6% of the total JEE aspirants).

For NEET (UG) 2021, a total of 16,14,777 candidates appeared for MBBS/BDS courses. Out of these, 8,70,074 candidates were declared qualified. These students competed for a total 91,927 seats in 529 colleges in India (4-5% of the total aspirants). Out of this, 48,012 seats accounted for government-run colleges, while the remaining 43,915 seats accounted for private colleges.
